Tar in your Lungs

Tar is produced by the burning of tobacco and other plant material in the act of smoking. Tar effects the lungs. It is a mixture of different substances which condense into a sticky substance in the lungs. Tar contains carcinogens, which may lead to lung cancer. Tar in the lungs can also  affect it’s respiratory function.

In your lungs the blood takes in oxygen and gives off waste. If a layer of tar exists in the lungs, this process is a lot harder. This decreases the amount of oxygen in your blood. Tar also sticks to your teeth and your hands. This is way smokers often have yellow teeth and brown fingers.
